Philosophy of Digital Man and Digital Society - 2024 Inhalt

Preface

The relevance of exploring the philosophy of the digital human and digital society within the framework of both theoretical and practical dimensions is increasingly significant, as we witness a transformation of contemporary society manifesting in the confluence of technological, economic, and social components and their impact on humanity. The authors affirm that this process is precipitated by the widespread dissemination of digital technologies, the development and implementation of which lead not only to a shift in technological paradigms and mechanisms of economic growth but also establish the groundwork for a radical reconfiguration of societal structures, altering human consciousness and worldview, and fostering the emergence of the digital human, digital culture, and digital perspective.

The objective of this scholarly inquiry is to develop conceptual approaches to the philosophy of the digital human and digital society in the context of theoretical and practical dimensions, particularly amid the evolution of digital management and the digital economy. A category of scientific knowledge that facilitates a deeper understanding of the essence of digital transformations occurring within the digital social milieu—and, most importantly, their social ramifications—is the formation of the "human in its digital format." The mechanisms through which these digital transformations are realized primarily spotlight novel processes such as robotics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, neurotechnology, 3D printing, and 3D visualization, wherein all aforementioned processes converge. The digital economy and digital management compel societal relations to evolve—from the compelled solidarity characteristic of industrial age production relations to entirely individualized, fragmented, unstable, and often virtual digital relations.

The purpose of the monograph "Philosophy of the Digital Human and Digital Society: Theory and Practice" is to analyze digital concepts that constitute a collection of informational resources, expressed through digital tools—means, methods, mobile social networks, technologies, and methodologies aimed at data retrieval for the purpose of mobile optimization. This endeavor supports the effective transition of all management processes into a digital format, including the development and implementation of management decisions.

Indeed, the realm of digital technologies in contemporary society presents a genuine challenge for all organizations and enterprises that necessitate enhanced integration of the digital landscape, as this landscape evolves at an astonishing pace, demanding that our perceptions of the needs for digital concepts and approaches also transform, thus requiring their adequate comprehension and understanding.

Theoretical knowledge concerning the digital society and digital human, along with tactical considerations associated with digital technologies, will become increasingly vital, particularly in times of heightened influence from social networks and the utilization of information and communication technologies, which impact social and economic changes, thereby transforming entire sectors of the economy and the very nature of humanity.

The authors assert that this may lead to a dilution of the former value foundations of society, rendering individuals more dependent and susceptible to manipulation. It is precisely for this reason that there arises an urgent necessity for a holistic concept of the interaction between the digital human and digital society, one that not only aptly describes the essence of the ongoing digital transformations but also comprehends the prognostic potential for defining the prospects of contemporary society amid its total instability, the crisis-ridden nature of existence, and informational stochasticity.

The object of this study is the interaction between the digital society and digital human as a social phenomenon in the context of theoretical and practical dimensions. The subject of the inquiry focuses on the impact of the digital society on the development of the digital economy and digital management, as well as the formation of new human values.

The principal tasks of the research are as follows:

  1. To analyze the theoretical and methodological foundations of the interaction between the digital human and digital society within the context of a synergistic paradigm;
  2. To elucidate the evolution of philosophical ideas from "digital humanitarianism" to digital philosophy, digital economy, and digital management;
  3. To identify the creative-innovative potential of the digital human as a factor in the development of a digitized society;
  4. To delineate the establishment and development of concepts related to the digital economy and digital management in the context of the global transformation of humanity;
  5. To showcase avenues for the implementation of foreign experiences in the philosophy of the creative city;
  6. To substantiate the praxeological foundations of the philosophy of the digital society and digital human within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Valuable contributions to this research emerge from the works of scholars such as M. Azhazha, V. Andrushchenko, M. Vyshnevskyi, M. Kyrychenko, O. Kivliuk, O. Krainik, M. Lepskyi, M. Maksymenko, V. Nikitenko, R. Oleksenko, O. Punchenko, T. Serhienko, O. Sosnina, D. Svyrydenko, S. Terepyshyi, A. Yaroshenko, R. Oleksenko, O. Punchenko, A. Cherep, A. Shevchenko, who in their works have addressed the issue of digital (informational) technologies and their influence on the modern technological world, through which the challenges of the digital society, digital identity, and the preparation of specialists for higher education have been examined.

We draw upon the works of contemporary foreign authors, such as E. Brynjolfsson, D. Stadler, K. Kevin, S. Christopher, E. McAfee, M. Graham, O’Reilly, J. Randers, A. Ross, D. Rose, S. Ruchira, K. Skinner, M. Spence, O. Toffler, R. Florida, M. Ford, N. Chandra, K. Schwab, who analyze digitalization as the principal trend in the development of contemporary society and illuminate pathways for the formation of the digital human and digital competencies.

It is noteworthy that the issues concerning the influence of global challenges facing civilization on the digital transformation of humanity, society, and education—factors that enhance the digital development of modern society—contribute to the formation of digital competencies shaped by education and their transformation into human and social capital.

The monograph employs Agile methodology, which pertains to the theory of complexity evolving within nonlinear environments and necessitating changes, encompassing a reorientation of human existence towards network structures. In this context, it has been practically advantageous in facilitating the formation of a digital society and digital human.

In the digital society, human communication occurs through networks, while authority is exercised through hierarchy; hence, the attributes of a digital society as a complex social system manifest as the results of its behavior as a networked system and networked society. The individual, as a subject of the networked society, participates in all processes of self-organization, the primary portion of which unfolds within the socially-networked structure, comprising various forms of interaction in the networked space.

Methodology of Research. A comprehensive system of methods and principles of scientific inquiry was employed to investigate the interaction between the digital individual and digital society. This included analysis and synthesis, abstraction, historical and logical methods, enabling a conceptual definition of their interaction as the principal driver influencing the development of technological changes. Through these methods, science describes real facts, elucidates them, and addresses practical issues.

The research methods—systemic, structural-systemic, and structural-functional—facilitated the systematization of material and data processing, establishing connections among facts, hypotheses, and theories. The informational approach, one of the most advanced methodologies, was designated for analyzing the issues of informatization within management systems and decision-making under the conditions of the organization as a complex social system. We assert that this method was initially developed by E. Toffler in the year 2000.

Using the informational approach, a social diagnosis of the state of informatization was conducted within the framework of the organization as a singular complex social phenomenon and a dynamic process. Through the application of logical and historical methodologies, deviations from the normal state of organizational functioning and development were analyzed. As a result of the socio-philosophical analysis undertaken, a scientific problem rooted in reality was addressed—one that is widespread and impacts the interests of diverse social groups, specifically the existence of humanity within a digital society.

Action research was utilized as a collection of scientific-practical recommendations, wherein methods of scientific cognition (surveys, observations, diagnostics, expertise) and active intervention (changes, transformations, improvements) were employed on equal terms concerning the study object—the informatization of the organization and its management process—and its implementation into management practice. The individual seeks not only to comprehend the world but also to change it through collective efforts, following a path of reflection. Action research emphasizes collaborative investigation and experimentation based on experience and social history. Within the Action Research process, “communities of researchers and actions develop and address questions and issues.”

Methods were employed to explicate the concepts of interaction between digital society and the digital individual as a social phenomenon, grounded in definitions of terms as modes of sign-symbolic logic, validated by the strategy of digital society. The methodology for the interaction between digital society and the digital individual is examined through the principles of knowledge systematization, which include objectivity, specificity, scientific rigor, systemic approach, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, and modeling. These principles construct a conceptual-scientific foundation for the logic of scientific inquiry and validate innovative ideas, concepts, meanings, and indices of deductive-inductive order. The Club of Rome proposes an evolutionary model extending from the simple computer model World3 of "Limits to Growth" in 1972 to the 2050 model by Jørgen Randers.

The research methods—analysis and synthesis, abstraction, generalization of scientific inquiries, historical and logical comparisons of research outcomes, and the search for correlations among subjects, models, and objects within the management paradigm—facilitated the transformation of management ideas and the construction of hypotheses, conclusions, and generalizations. This comprehensive approach fosters a productive research process, discarding the incidental and shaping a fundamental generality imbued with objectively rational content.

A hypothesis is posited that the emerging technological domain, founded upon the digitalization of the world, cultivates digital technologies permeating all spheres of human activity. Digital technologies represent the predominant trend in technological advancement, transforming entire industries. It is argued that the digital society evolves on the foundation of digital technologies that enact changes, fostering not only successful entrepreneurship and business but also the emergence of a new essence of the digital individual. Evidence is provided that innovations have already entered our world and will alter it at an unprecedented pace, impacting all sectors of production and, in the long term, contributing to the development of a smart society and smart technologies within the framework of contemporary digital civilization.

Resolving these issues will assist the digital individual in navigating the captivating and rapid informational environment, which evolves alongside digital technologies, enabling an understanding of the value of information and the challenges posed by breakthrough technologies. The research offers practical recommendations concerning which technology brands of digital strategies within modern society are currently relevant and how to quantitatively assess them to establish a reliable and tested foundation for measuring the interaction between the digital individual and digital society in the realm of digital technologies.
